My guess is I’m not the only one watching Once Upon a Time. I mean, it’s not like I’m looking at the ratings or anything…OK, I do check on them from time to time…but Once Upon a Time seems to be doing fairly decent 9 episodes in, so I’m hopeful it will at least finish out the season and get renewed. Of course, I’m always skeptical about fantasy-style shows and renewals.
While the ongoing writer’s strike, for lack of a better term, sucks major izass, there is one nice benefit…for me. I have had time to catch up on shows that I might have otherwise missed. While the DVR is nice, it fills up quickly, especially when my wife forces me to record shows like this, though she has, thankfully, given up on some others…
Sometimes, though, I have to hand it to her. She was, I must admit, the one person who convinced me to start watching both Lost and Veronica Mars, so I can’t discount her opinion completely, and it seems that this shortened TV season has brought her another find that she must be praised for, Pushing Daisies.
I was mildly interested by the few promos I had seen, but class, as it does, got in the way of me actually checking out the show when it debuted. It was not long until the wife started to obsess, however. The cinematography and art direction for the show is, seriously, some of the best I have ever seen on the small screen. Kristen Chenoweth and Anna Friel are both, I think we can all agree, more than stalker worthy, and Chi McBride is good in everything. Not too mention, the show is narrated by the most skilled orator of our time…Jim Dale.
