Clearly we are in the end times.

I’m not as up on the Book of Revelations, or the prophecies of Nostradamus, as I might be. But I am fairly convinced that if a website I have any part in creating is getting any type of sustained traffic, then surely blood will soon rain down from the heavens.

Gilgrim sent along this (terrifying?) image….

That’s motherfucking VG CATS, underneath Normality Restored. That just doesn’t make any god damn sense! That’s like, a for real and shit webcomic. And it’s a good one too!

Who are all you people reading this? I don’t mean that in a, who are you, go away type of thing. I mean, who are you and how did you find out about this? Seriously, I’m confused and frightened. Also, grateful, don’t get me wrong. My earlier post about making a million dollars notwithstanding, I did not really believe we would get much traffic here.

It’s pretty awesome…at least for me. I mean, I know gilgrim is psyched as well, but he actually has fans already. I mean, he goes to comic con and he’s on the sit down side of a booth. But this is the first time I’ve had anyone (other than friends who are forced) actually reading stuff that I’ve written.

So thanks to you nameless internets browsers! Hopefully you’ve enjoyed what we’ve done so far, and hopefully it’ll only get better as time goes by. Also, please feel free to comment on stuff…I know I bitched about having to moderate comments (and I don’t, actually have internet access at home right now…I know, I have a web comic and no internet, I’m lame what can I say) but the idea of actually having people interacting on this thing is so exciting that my default setting of “Lazy” may no longer apply…just be patient as the moderating might come slow because of the whole no internet at home thing.

Thanks for reading,

A quick word of thanks.

We’ve seen a steady, modest, increase in our traffic here at Normality Restored. I like to think that’s, at least in part, due to the fact that we’ve actually been posting stuff regularly for a few weeks. Although, the amount of comics has dwindled to…um…zero.

Nevertheless, you stalwart supporters of Normality Restored (I briefly considered calling you “Normies” but then realized how lame that would be) continue check-in and comment. And I’d like to give an especial thanks to Kerri (particularly for the kind words), Shalyn and anyone else whose left a comment (and no, you don’t count exsulis). It’s really nice considering there has been a serious lack of web-comic on this web-comic, of late.

But never fear! We are working on a comic for this week! Complete with pictures, word bubbles, color, and maybe even a joke or two (but, you know, I wouldn’t hold my breath on that last one).

Please put on appropriate attire, it’s about to get exceedingly sticky up in this bitch

If you’ve been reading the site regularly, or if you are familiar with the previous iteration of my on-line persona, then you are aware that, by and large, I am not the sentimental type.

But this time of year necessarily leads one to get a little sentimental.

And I really try to not be that type of parent.  You know, the one that won’t shut the F up about his kid.  Man is that guy annoying.

What I’ve discovered in my near year and 1/2 of parenthood, though, is that the reason that asshole WON’T shut his stupid mouth is because he can’t, literally.  I’m of the opinion that once your first child is born, your DNA mutates in some way so that a majority of your brain usage is now re-routed to thoughts of your child.  These can range from love, to worry, to amusement, to frustration and everything in between.  But the common denominator is always the kid.

There’s a reason why people newly initiated into the ranks of “parent” often (not always) find they spend more time with their parent friends.  You can be the most empathetic person in the world, but if you’ve never had a child, then you just do not understand what it is like.  Now, for all you non-child-havers out there, that might sound like an excuse.  Certainly, it is your right to think that.  But in my experience, there really are a few experiences that just cannot be understood unless you experience them.

Case in point, when I was 11 my mother passed away.  All the sympathy in the world does nothing to help a person understand exactly what it is like to lose a mother.

Damn, it just got serious in here!  Sorry about that…

Anyway, my point with all this is that, on some level, I have a need to talk about my daughter and unless you have a kid yourself, you probably don’t understand.

But I really don’t want you all to think that I’m only going to talk about my kid here, but with Thanksgiving being tomorrow and all, what I’m most thankful for is my family.

Besides, I think we can all agree that, across the long history of the human race, there have been very few toddler’s as cute as my daughter…

And she’s a super genius.

So, what are you all thankful for?

Happy(?) Xmas…

Monday, December 24th, 2007

Hello to all!

I was planning on putting together something a bit more festive for today in honor of the winter celebration of the western sun god’s birth tomorrow. Unfortunately, I got hit with some less than stellar news today which made the whole idea of scribbling something festive-y not so attractive anymore. This makes the second piece of weird or bad news that I’ve been handed in the last 2 days. If the old rules still hold true then I’m sure I can expect one more piece of emotional-psychologically-draining-or-physically-debilitating shit to hit me square in the face before everything is said and done, and things start going back to a more enlightened form of multiverse-cosmic balance.

That said and in honor of my current feelings, here is a little something for the season of traitors and wrongdoers…

Happy Krampus!

In special honor of those who seem to have spent the better or at least latter portion of this year trampling on trust, destroying a record of unrequited devotion, sacrifice, honor and basic civility. To those few who seem to have made it a special mission to attack and or endanger my family, my self, my work and my livelihood, as they say, ‘this one’s for you!’. It is my sincere holiday wish that Krampus was real and that he would show up individually to your doors tonight, flatulent you repeatedly, and painfully with his fist full of switches and carry you away sobbing, beaten, broken and bloody. He’s ready, he’s happy to do his job and he has no problem showing you what I think about you miserly, fucktards of despair, spiteful retaliation and selfish ghettoized sense of community responsibility. To you, slobbering, rancid cunts, Happy Krampus, may you receive nasty staph infections, IRS audits and street walker born STDs all!

To everyone else, you’re awesome, please do enjoy this winter holiday and unlike the previously mentioned twats, may you find happiness and comfort in your honorable deeds, the company of your friends and family and in the reflection of another year gone by!

I love you all (or at least those who shouldn’t have Krampus coming after them tonight),

An End of a Year : An End of an Era

Monday, December 31st, 2007

This was completed last Thursday, and seems to have finally gone up today… all in all I was surprised by the cancellation of the series, but the reasons for the cancellation are, well, not evident at this time. However, I was lucky enough to be able to put together one final strip in order to say goodbye to all of the wonderful readers who stuck it out and came back week after week for the 30+ installments. To all that have been reading the series and allowed me, April, Wednesday and even our son, Salem, to be a part of your lives - and to all of those who enjoyed the strips, thank you, very, very much.

So here it is, the final installment of Megalo Life - for Trickster Online Revolution.

And so 2007 closes today, and with it this weekly webcomic serial. Thank you again to everyone who showed their support, if you would like to leave comments for the series itself, please do so in the actual comments section for the Megalo Life series at the bottom of the URL link as I will be reading them there.

See you all next year!

–Aleister
