Judging Stuff by Covers is What I Do Best

0

Because what happened was, as per usual, I was at the bookmines, in the music shaft specifically, and came across this album:

It's Frightening

It's Frightening

Now I hadn’t heard of White Rabbits, but the image was of interest to me. In fact, more and more recently, I’ve simply picked things up based solely on covers and, you know, I’d say that my success with finding decent things to read/listen to/watch has probably gone up. So that’s a quick way of saying that White Rabbits second full length album (if wikipedia is to be believed…) “It’s Frightening” is worth listening to, but I hadn’t thought so on the first listen through.

Locke and Key: Head Games #5 Review

0

The newest issue of Lock and Key came out last Wednesday and it did not disappoint. After flipping their heads open in the last issue of Bode and Kinsey spend a fair amount of this issue looking at their bad thoughts trapped inside a Coke bottle. Probably the most important aspect of this issue is that Zach is finally starting to kick things into gear. After many issues of sitting back and letting things unfold, Zach has determined it is time to really start getting his hand’s dirty. No one in the Locke family seems safe from this powerful evil. Zach utilizes the keys he has obtained access to and, with the utmost of skill, begins removing old memories of himself form Uncle Duncan’s head. He then does something truly evil by seducing Kinsey. This guy is the worst of the worst. Once again we have crisp writing from Joe Hill and some super eerie images courtesy of Gabriel Rodriguez. IDW has become the new home of great horror. I can’t wait to see how this arc all wraps up with next month’s issue six.

Plants vs. Zombies

Have I ever told you how much zombies scare the crap out of me?  Like any healthy fear, I’ve learned to embrace it and begin my preparations.  Though, until the day of Zompacalypse™ arrives, I have found a way to take out my zombie hate courtesy of Felicia DayPop Cap Games has wrought unto this world, the highly addictive tower defense game, “Plants vs. Zombies.”

An update for, really, no reason at all…

5

My guess is that the change in the site’s look coupled with less than frequent updates, and even less frequent comics, has eroded our loyal readership from six to…is it possible to have a negative number of readers?

But I thought I’d come in here while the daughter is watching Horton Hears a Who (and mom and son are napping) to give a really brief update.

Life may be cheap but my Battletech addiction is expensive!

1

I love giant robots.  Ever since I saw Robotech as a young child I dreamed of piloting a behemoth of walking metal and devastation.  Then somewhere around the early 1990′s I walked into a place called “Virtual World” located in Old Town Pasadena and my life was changed forever.  It was here that, for the princely sum of $10, I could strap myself into a VR pod a.k.a. “Tesla Pod” for 6 minutes and duke it out with those that had the same dreams as me.  In between games, they had a “pilots lounge” that sold the board game “Battletech” and its long line of novels.

Harper’s Island – Episode 5…or, Just When Things Were Getting Good

0

This is late in coming, I know, but since episode six won’t be airing until the 23rd I figure I had some time.

Not a good excuse, I know, but what are you going to do?

So, let’s recap who died in Episode 5…Thomas Wellington.

How does he die?

The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen Century 1910

0

Hey all, Stoker again. So last week the new “League of Extraordinary Gentlemen” story came out; I am glad to say that it is a step up from the last installment, “The Black Dossier.” Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed following the exploits of Mina and Alan as they searched for information on previous incarnations/variations of the League from around the world but, when all was said and done, the Black Dossier left me a bit on the cold side. Unlike the other League stories I have never had the urge to revisit it, something which I am prone to do with comic books I really like.
