So today I’m trying an experiment in…let’s call it, pushing the limits of ridiculousness. See, I came into the bookmines at 6 am and I’ll leave at 2. I will then return at 9 pm and stay until 5 am. I will then have to teach at 8:30. At some point in there I have to send off an application for a teaching post, finish another one, grade 18 papers (I’ve already read the rough drafts so maybe it won’t be so bad to do that…) and, I guess, sleep.
One christmas season I worked my normal Mon-Fri 7-3:30 shift at the bookmines while also working as an overnight manager at a toy shop from 10 pm until 7 am. Luckily, both stores were in the same mall. That lasted for just under two months. I did, prior to that, work the same 7-3:30 bookmines and a 6-2 am shift at a movie theatre five nights a week. That went on for about a year. I have this thing about working myself to exhaustion.
Anyway, some changes coming up to the ol’ NR soon. New faces…er, voices…um, text producers may or may not be coming on board. And they won’t exactly be new, really. There is also a rumor about one man’s hatred of all things cottage cheese and ice.
I’ve had six shots of espresso today and I’m about to finish my first soda…see how I’m delirious already. Someone needs to come down to my class tomorrow and video tape that shit, no doubt it will be, as the kids say, comedy gold.

I’m right up there with you. I’ve been running at the 80 hour mark for going on 3 weeks, and I’m in zombie mode(I might have gnawed on a puppy). Said hours tied in with the lack of food is making my just a little out of it, and my headache. Need more Bookoo, like 8 more in the next three hours.
Why is the bookmine having you work until 5am? Is it that time of year to take inventory and move shelving?

Our inventory is coming up in about a week. I’ll be working the 11pm to 3 am shift that night.
God our inventory isn’t until July and I can just imagine what that’s going to be like now that the Inventory Manager position no longer exists….
