Did You Know Last Tuesday was a Holiday?

Well, it was. That was the day No Line on the Horizon, the new U2 album came out. I didn’t say anything about it last week because I wanted to let the thing marinate in my mind for a bit.

U2 is one of those bands that I think, having grown up on Bad Religion and Dead Kennedy’s, I should not enjoy. But you know what, I love that damn band. Yeah Bono’s full of himself, and yeah they are, in many ways, the stereotypical arena-rock band. But, god damnit, they write such good songs and absolutely blow away live shows. So there you are. Go buy the new album because it is, as they say, the shit.

Don’t believe me? Alright doubty mcdoubter, check this.

In that vein this Friday is a holiday as well. Super Junior is releasing their third album. Woo!

You like stereotypical arena-rock, I like Korean pop music with lyrics I don’t understand.

Bah, asian bands! This chinese girl that works at the bookmines listens to nothing but japanes pop/metal. Every time she’s in the back sorting I have to listen to soaring guitar anthems with vocals that, for all I know, are making fun of my caucasian persuasion…

You know what, I’m going to start a celtic/hip hop crew and call it “Caucasian Persuasion.”

  3. Tengu says:

    Can I join?

  4. exsulis says:

Or you could listen to this, and I have no interest in what they are saying.

    Then there is this group.

Korean pop is different from Japanese pop, in that it’s less… annoying. I can’t stand jpop. So I found kpop to be surprisingly nice. This is SNSD, and yes, the group is all nine girls. This is Super Junior, one of their earlier hits called U, and the girl is Yoona, a member of the unformed, at the time, SNSD. Yes, it’s all thirteen guys. And this is DBSK, the most successful band in South Korea, who’ve made considerable inroads to Japan, where they’re known as TVXQ. Um. Ignore the hair for better viewing enjoyment. They’re just five guys, but they use backup dancers. Don’t be fooled. Yeah, all the letters stand for something but I’m lazy. Click the HQ buttons next to the volume on the lower right for better clarity.

Exsulis – the first one was okay, the second one I turned off almost right after I clicked it.

Well, no Tengu you can’t join because of your overt asian”ness”. What you can do, however, is start another crew (I don’t know, maybe the Asian Invasion) and guest star on the Caucasian Persuasion’s first album “White as I wanna be”. Then both crews can do a combined album and we’ll call that one “Racialist up your ass” or something.

  7. Kerri says:

I fear I am overtly Asian myself. Since the Asians have definitely already invaded I prefer ‘Asian Sensation’.
