Remember when I said I’d be keeping track of the reviews for Watchmen….I said it like three days ago…geez do you guys even pay attention?
Anyway, as the movie opens today more reviews are in. The main Rotten Tomatoes page has it sitting at a 64% while the Top Critics portion is in at 45%. That’s not too shabby, I think, for a comic book film. Particularly one that has the sensibilities and eccentricities of Watchmen. One thing I will point out, though, is that two of the critics whose opinions I most admire, Roger Ebert and Peter Travers were impressed with the film. Ebert, in fact, says he’s going to see it again in Imax.
None of this, doubtless, will change anyone’s opinion about whether or not to see the film but I always find it interesting to read other’s opinions about films I’m really excited to see.
The Pipettes — Dirty Mind

I went to the midnight showing last night and I thought they did a damn good job. I was planning on seeing it in IMAX, but then I realized that there’s a considerable amount of man ass (both Dr. Manhattan and Night Owl) and lots of floppy blue penis as well…and I don’t really think I want to see that bigger.
They included a lot of shots that were exact panels from the comic book, which I really liked. Also, did I mention that I once had a dream that Rorschach killed me? That was a shitty dream.
But, I mean, if someone’s going to kill you, you could do much worse than Rorschach.
i also enjoyed it. at first i was very critical of it saying to myself what parts were skipped and things like that but once i was able to just appreciate it as a film instead of comparing it to the book i enjoyed it. of course more story would have been good rather than just mentioning the main points but the way it was shot was awesome and there are some very well placed songs.
