Sunday! Sunday! Sunday!

3

No comic this week (Been the week from hell), however I am going to be posting something special for the birthday boys (Kilian and Salem). First up, because it’s all done and in announcement of his first ever birthday (EVER!) is Salem’s:

The other will follow later, and is for Kilian, hopefully this week.

Sorry, but I’m running around like a crazy person… will check in soon. I love you all,

Misfits – Last Carress

First “Sy-Fy” and now this.

Remember when the Sci-fi Channel became “Syfy”? It happened like two minutes ago…it was a retarded attempt to rebrand a channel away from what it was formerly all about. If you want to read an article about how it’s cool anyway you can right here…I got about three paragraphs in and stopped.

Anyway, in another attempt at retarded television decisions the channel formerly (well, they haven’t changed their name yet…) known as Cartoon Network will now begin airing live action reality shows. If there’s one thing we certainly don’t need more of in this god forsaken country it’s fucking reality shows…especially on a channel that is supposed to be dedicated to animated programming.

Who wants to storm the Cartoon Network offices with me?

And a big thanks to everyone who wished me a happy birthday on facebook…I’d say that on facebook but, well, I’m lazy. It would be a happy birthday, too, if I wasn’t about to go spend the entire night trying to handsell books about cancer and internment camps…

The Latest of My Revolving Man Crushes…BUT I’M TOTALLY NOT GAY…NOT THAT THERE’S ANYTHING WRONG WITH THAT!

Look I voted against Prop 8, alright…or for it…or, wait, whichever way it was that was for allowing two dudes to get hitched is the way I voted.

When I lived in San Francisco I shared an apartment with two gay guys. I used several 6 foot tall bookshelves to create a faux wall and turned the dining room into a bedroom. It was the cheapest room in the apartment. So even though I’m about to profess my love for another man, and I once lived in the gayest city in the US with two gay guys, I’m still totally hetero…

Look, I impregnated my wife the one time we had non birth control related sex in like eight years.

Playing Catch Up

I’m currently trying to secure another income stream (i.e., third job). Teaching one class and working 35 hours at the bookmines just aren’t cutting it now that we have the second kid. So that’ll be awesome.

Anyway, it’s been a bit since I was on the ol’ NR and there were a couple things I wanted to share.

Even as Watchmen closes in on 100 million domestic box office gross (and another 60 million internationally means the movie has already gone over its production budget), WB may have decided to forgo making R rated superhero films. Apparently there just isn’t enough marketing to kids available from a film that shows boobies, a guy getting repeatedly axed in the head and another guy getting his arms cut off with a circular saw. Of course, a film that includes a guy getting burned alive, a woman blown up, and people on two different barges deciding whether or not to blow up each other is a-OK!

One of the few things in this world that I love unconditionally (other than the wife and kids) is Wallace and Gromit, and now we (the world) have been graced with a semi-nude Wallace. Try as I might, I can’t think of something I’ve wanted more than for this day to arrive.

I’ve been listening to The Streets a lot lately. The latest album, particularly, seems to capture a lot of what I’ve been feeling lately. So on that note, please enjoy…

Well, now I have papers to grade and resumes to send and tears (just, you know, general tears) to shed.

The Streets — Weak Becomes Heroes

P.S. As I write this there is a fucking Wallace and Gromit add on the site! Talk about the internetz freaking me out again.

A little something for fun!

Over at Warren Ellis‘ site, there’s a remake/remodel thread for lost or forgotten comicbook characters. I may or may not have had a registration to the actual forums of this site before, but I decided to sign-up now just in case and throw my hat into the ring as well… because it’s certainly fun to do these things every once and a while.

So here’s my entry:

The description was as follows:

Woman With A Black Heart. This nameless mystery woman appeared in Fun and Fiction and Bullseye in the 1930s. She was beautiful, never revealed her true identity or background, and had a “mystic black heart” tattooed on her forehead. She faced a wide variety of perils and adventures.

You can see the other submissions on Ellis’ WhiteChapel site via the Remake/Remodel Thread (I believe mine is on pg 4 towards the bottom).

Enjoy. I love you all,

Werewolves VS Unicorns — Updated by the Victor, Kilian

3

There are many things in which Kilian and I don’t see exactly eye to eye. Kilian loves bacon, while I’m a vegetarian (I eat fish, but telling people you’re a pescetarian usually only causes confusion). Killing thinks that Werewolves are the mightiest of mythical creatures, while I of course am partial to disturbingly horrid and brightly coloured depictions of Unicorns. And while we are both unapologetically big fans of the old Football (read: soccer, here in the states) and follow the Premier League in particularly we do not cheer for the same clubs (read: teams for yanks).

So the other day Tengu sends me the following e-mail, posted here in its entirety:

So when is the good old NR going to start doing reviews like PA’s so you can get free swag like them?
