My Brain is Fried

3

I finished my midterm, about an hour ago, and after a few editorial corrections, duly e-mailed it to my professor. With that done, and counting the paper I wrote this morning, that means that I wrote 10 pages today. It’s not a lot, I’ll admit, but I’ve been so exhausted lately that my head is now mushy. I just now finished grabbing nine books full of critical material on Don DeLillo and Italo Calvino respectively. I should start going through them since I have two 15-20 page papers due in less than three weeks that I have not started (well, I have about 5 pages of the DeLillo one already). I have 90 minutes before class, but…god I want to go to sleep. I haven’t even read for class tonight, which I hate, hate, HATE, doing but…shrug…

See this whole thing going on here…this is me rambling. I am so over school right now. I have a ridiculous amount of papers to grade this week as well as finishing up my thesis, which I must defend on December 9th. I keep trying to remind myself that in a few weeks this whole grad school thing will be over but for some reason that thought is not very comforting at present.

Three Pieces of Bad News on a Monday

I should be working on a midterm right now. I am, in fact…or, I will be in a minute when I’m done writing this.

But I wanted to check in briefly to relay some infos that have come my way over the weekend.

PSA: Twilight

14

See what happened was, I had something like a 19 hour day yesterday. So gilgrim e-mailed the attached comic around midnight, which was about 30 minutes after I got home, and also 29 minutes after I fell asleep. In any event, it’s up now.

And I’m going to take this opportunity to mention a few of the opinions I have formed regarding this newest of nerd crazes known as the “Twilight.”

First, though, an admission. I have not, in fact, read any of the novels in their entirety.

Just a bit before the real post

I’m not gonna make a long post here, because there’s to be a longer one up on NR soon enough. But in the same vein as the upcoming NR post (WITH a NEW comic!) I also made this quick gif which i thought I would share… and yes, I have absolutely no love whatsoever for this horrid series, or the tepid piece of cinematic trash that it has spawned and released into theaters nationwide as of today (Friday, which is now yesterday, whatever). Enjoy… or don’t.

I love you all,

Oh Interwebz, I Thank You for This Bounty

2

So remember when I put that post up about A Song of Ice and Fire being turned into an HBO program…OK, that they are shooting the pilot and it may get picked up?

Well, not too long afterward, the gods of the “collection of tubes” we lovingly call the interwebz did grace me with a most bountious bounty in the form of the script from said pilot. I won’t talk about specifics of what I’ve read, but I will say that even the added scenes, that is, the stuff in the script that was not in the books seems to be very sensible additions. It opens up the story so that it is not totally focused on Ned Stark (as is the case early in the the first book) and so gives a good sense of the larger scope of the whole work. The other thing I will say, is that whoever put it together chose and absolutely perfect spot to end the episode. I mean, talk about a mother f’ing cliffhanger! For those that aren’t familiar with the story and happen to see this first episode, I cannot but see how they would want to know what happens next.

Very well done gods of the interwebz, I praise you most heartily on this day!

Hot Hot Heat — My Best Friend

The Haircut… Updated with even more “W-O-R-D-S”

Hey folks, Friday is here and so is a comic! Now that only happens every third Haley’s comet so I guess we’ll see you all in 200 and some years.

Well, my laptop is on the brink of battery death as I type this and there is nary an AC outlet to be found so I’ll have to make this brief…but let me just say, as regards to the comic above, that nothing disturbs me more than clown porn. I mean, I’m pretty fine with clowns (as opposes to Tengu, say, who jumps whenever anyone even says the words midget and clown in the same sentence) in general but clown sex is disturbing. So there is not better way, I can think of, to mock gilgrim than with transexual clown innuendo…I’m just saying. Oh, and if you want to stop clown porn like me, then join this group.

‘Allo Everyone. O_o I know it’s been a while since I came back on a normal post like this, and I originally had every intention of putting up my own post when this most recent comic went up as well… however, as often happens in life in general, things really didn’t go according to plan, including the recent and ongoing fires as well as April and our little boy getting sick.

And if you’re wondering what boy I speak of, well aha! behold the pictures of utter-terrible-cuteness!

“I am CUTE!”

“This is my best friend. His name is TAKO!”

“Why the hell are you pointing the camera at the sleeping baby?! Don’t you think you’ll wake him up?”

…Apparently, the baby did not wake up…

“RIGHT HAND OF DOOOOOOM!”

Mommy and baby first Halloween

“What…?

You may not be able to tell,  but as is typical practice in the Gilgrim household and in conjunction with Ms. April December’s wishes, the boys are in matching outfits….

We love you all,

Joy Division – Love Will tear Us Apart (ON O_O Fucking American Dad!)

PS

I did get the haircut finally, thanks for the remarks and bids for your choices everyone. The end result is somewhere between the Fake Republican and the Emo Shag thing… colour will be coming probably next month, in the meantime, I’m trying to get more comfortable with the swiftly growing legion of gray that’s taking over me head.

PPS

And please tell me that someone else saw the “Love Will Tear Us Apart” scene on American Dad tonight (Sunday Nov 16th [AdultSwim]) O_O please!

I may have to start paying for HBO again

Anyone else see this article from The Hollywood Reporter? No, well I’ll sum up. HBO has ordered a pilot be shot based on the George RR Martin novel, A Game of Thrones, the first in the Song of Ice and Fire series.

I previously touted said series, though I’ve stalled into book three because of, what else, school.
