A Reflection of Society…

Over the weekend a porn was shot in the San Fernando Valley. I know, I know, big deal, right? Well this particular one, titled “Who’s Nailin’ Palin?” is, of course, just what this country needs to heal our wounded and divided society.

You can get the “heads up” (pun intended…damn I’m childish) over at TMZ, but I would like to quote the summary of the “film”:

The plot — two drunk Russians are driving their tank when it runs out of gas in front of Palin’s home. You can take it from there.

I truly do believe that at some point, in the very near future, someone will write a PhD dissertation discussing the social/cultural impact of having farce portrayed in a decidedly “mature” medium such as porn. Maybe it’s been written already. I contend that there is no lens by which we can judge ourselves more objectively than that of the “porn spoof.”

Or maybe I’m just trying to spike traffic again…

Here are some sample comments from the TMZ page (see, I’m saving you the trouble of all that annoying “clicking”)

Ya know, this is how women are displayed. Go EF yourself TMZ. And ALL women should be pissed off at this no matter what party you prefer. This is beyond politics. This is another punch in the gut to women.

Not sure how that is, really, since as far as I can tell the women appearing in this film (by the way, I heard that “Hillary Clinton” and “Condoleezza Rice” appear as well) all did so by choice. Now I haven’t seen the film, of course, but my guess is that (as much as one can make of these things) the females are the ones “in power” as it were.

Said it before, will say it again. This kind of childish anti-Republican woman cr*p is just unfair. Palin does not deserve to be vilified in such a manner.

There are things that are just NOT funny, you know? Chevy Chase doing his stupid pratfalls to mock Pres Ford? Not funny after the 1st time, to be sure. Tina Fey mocking Palin? Her impression of her is funny even if some of the ”jokes” are less so. This nailin’ Palin thing? Not funny. Period.

Sad and disrespectful? You bet.

I disagree that Palin does not “deserve” to be vilified in this manner. I posit that it is our responsibility as freedom loving American’s to vilify any and all public persons in any manner we see fit. As for funny…humor is subjective, of course, but I’ll take my cues from George “you can make a joke about anything, don’t believe me, take rape, they say rape isn’t funny, oh yeah, picture porky pig raping elmer fudd, well why do you think they call him porky” Carlin.

It is really sad to think that there are people in our world that have to make a dollar by producing crap like this insted of getting a real job.

But isn’t that one of the great the wonders of a market economy? This “crap” would not (could not, in fact) exist if there were not consumers out in the world who wanted to spend money on it. Thank you capitalism!

Are you sure they aren’t spending said money for the pure novelty of said film?

This coming from a person who loved “That’s My Bush”

  2. kilian says:

The reasons for the spending of the money are inconsequential. If the market will bear a product, it will do so for whatever reason, that’s all I’m saying.

  3. CountBl00d says:

what do you expect, its politics. And who honestly really likes politics?

  4. unknown_suavo says:

    Well, presumably politicians…

One does wonder if we are seeing early hints at the nature of Killian’s PhD dissertation though… At least research materials will be easy to come by…

  5. kilian says:

If this is some sort of indication of what PhD studies I may undertake in the future, then you have a long time to wait for said dissertations completion. I’ve been banned from even starting a PhD for at least five (really ten) years.

All because we pushed that dog around by his hind legs like a wheelbarrow?! I knew that would come back to haunt us!
