I am a swimming in, how do you say, books.

I’m reading three books right now; Geek Love, The Street of Crocodiles, and The Posthumous Memories of Bras Cubas.  I just finished The Names three days ago.  I’m also trying to write three (reasonably short) papers and grade 37.

As I type this, there are more than 25 books in my car. If I take a corner too fast I am randomly hit in the head by something like this, or this, or this.

Of course, all of this is of secondary import today.

What’s that? You don’t know what today is? But surely every Normalinaut made a point of purchasing The Graveyard Book and Nation this morning when his/her local book retailer opened…or, was that just me?

When you think about it, shouldn’t this day have been commemorated as a national holiday? When was the last time we (the reading public) were so blessed as to receive new fictional works from both Pratchett and Gaiman on the same day?

OK, when Good Omens was first published, granted. But what about TWO separate works (one from each author) on the same day?

Thank you, gods of words that are written, for the benevolence you have bestowed on us, your unworthy worshipers, this day.

Amen.
