My fingers have started to fall off.
Is there a law requiring that, in establishments whose menu consists mostly of coffee and espresso based items, the temperature can never be above 50 degrees Fahrenheit? Seriously. I’ve been sitting here for an hour and I now have a moderate case of frost bite. On Saturday I put on pants and a jacket (even though the outside temperature was over 90) because I was going to study and I didn’t want to shiver the whole time.
Friday night I received a cryptic e-mail stating that I had passed my Master’s exam “with distinction” (not sure what that means precisely) and that I would receive a formal letter shortly. So, one hurdle down, three classes left to pass and a thesis defense to get through.
12 weeks and counting.
That just happens to be the amount of time left before kid #2 is fully cooked.
Lastly, because Tengu asked, I have to bring up the fact that the Dodgers will be in the playoffs again this year (starting Wednesday). This season, for the Dodgers, has almost been three or four in one with all the injuries, ups, downs, and of course, Manny. Unfortunately, the blue crew are facing the NL best Cubs in the first round. The Dodgers have won just a single playoff game since 1988, so that’s not good. The Cubs, of course, are the Cubs but this is the 100 year anniversary of the last time they won the whole thing and there would be a satisfying sense of symmetry if they could pull it out.
Of course, in this round, I hope the Dodgers mop the floor with them. The Cubs have the NL’s best offense and the Dodgers have the league’s best team ERA, so it is a matter of whose strength will prevail. Can Manny, who seemed to propel the entire team for two months, scratch out some more late season heroics? Here’s hoping.

Truly, it can’t be that cold. There are they days when I endeavor to keep the offices around 5 degrees Kelvin. Its raining, and I’ve still got the AC going

Yeah, I’m going to be praying that the Dodgers make it past the first round of playoffs. At least I can watch the Angels in a pinch. BTW, Dr. Bachman is supposed to review your mid-semester surveys with you. It’s only end of the year stuff you get copies.
