Because, at this point, Watchmen is what I’m really living for…
OK, well I guess the wife, kid #1 and kid #2 (currently under development…80% boy!) are pretty good reasons to live.
But aside from that, what else have I got going? I mean, honestly, I could probably die happy after seeing Watchmen. At least, that’s what I thought yesterday after reading this article about how Dave Gibbons admits to being excited for the film (I mean, he and John Higgins even worked a bit on the pre-production for the film).
But like sands through the hour glass…
Now it seems that Fox is suing to halt production on the film altogether!
OK, so here’s the actual article at Variety, in case you want more than just the snippets.
Now, if Fox truly believed that there was some copyright infringement going on, well that’s one thing, since they did spend some time and money trying to develop the film initially. So Warner Bros. could be forced into some sort of profit sharing deal with Fox, but is that good enough for them? Oh no!
They want to stop the movie altogether. Are the people at Fox all demon worshiping hell spawn who sacrifice children and small bunnies to their nefarious gods?
I’m not saying I have any proof to back up that allegation, but I ask you to prove that they aren’t.
It’s certainly possible that Fox is just positioning. I can’t imagine they would actually want to kill the film, this close to release, rather than getting some percentage of the revenue. Of course, if they were concerned about copyright infringement all along, why wait until February of 2008 to file their suit when it had long been known that a Watchmen project was in development at Paramount?
I guess I keep coming back to the demon, blood sacrifice thing as the only plausible answer.

Of course they are demon worshiping spawn! At least their TV production wing is, since they made sure that such great things as Firefly couldn’t be successful. I’m sure the film division worships something in a deeper level of hell.
