It will no doubt prove to be as mesmerizing and disturbing as a car crash.

Am I alone in feeling that the “coolification” of geek culture has just as much downside as it does upside?

On the one hand, if graphic novels (hipster for COMICS) never got into mainstream popularity we would have never gotten Hollywood to produce something as good as The Dark Knight. On the other hand, if comics had stayed “uncool” I seriously doubt that Paris Hilton would have had any interest in them at all. In this plane of existence, however, where comics are slowly taking over Hollywood, Paris Hilton is developing, with the help of Stan Lee, a superhero based on herself.

Let me repeat that so you can let it marinate: PARIS HILTON IS DEVELOPING, WITH THE HELP OF STAN LEE, A SUPERHERO BASED ON HERSELF.

I can understand Hilton’s desire to work with Stan Lee. Or, I should say, I can understand Hilton’s handler’s desire that she work with Stan Lee. He’s not exactly the center of the comics universe these days, but any superhero style project with Stan Lee’s name on it is legitimized from the get go.

But does the man who helped create Spider-man, The Fantastic Four and The X-Men really need to collaborate with Paris, no talent stupid ho, Hilton? Is he hurting for work?

Shit Stan, come work with Gilgrim if you need someone to mentor.

Probably Stan’s just collecting a paycheck so they can slap his name on the show, but still. Has he lost all sense self respect?

OK, yeah, she did do that thing with the fake campaign ad that was almost…almost…funny.

No I’m not going to embed it here. I won’t give her more exposure, even if it is only to six people. No, I’m not going to do it. Just stopping asking.

Oh fine, whiny little bitch.

Now I’ve lost my train of thought, thanks. I hope you’re all happy.

Stan Lee has unfortunately really come downhill in the last few years. Perhaps you forgot when he collaborated with Pamela Anderson to create Striperella.

Well at least Pamela Anderson has something that approximates acting talent…after a fashion.

And Stripperalla wasn’t all that bad of an idea…after a fashion. It’s actually something I might have come up with.

  3. Jezmon_Degyte says:

Really??? You’re going to put the words “acting talent” and “Pamela anderson” in the same sentence.

I’m not necessarily saying that the concept or idea for striperella isn’t good. My point is that it isn’t good coming from the portfolio of Stan Lee. He just hasn’t been able to find a good idea since he left Marvel(except for Who wants to be a superhero).

  4. kilian says:

Yeah, but the chances of Stan Lee coming up with a decent comic are way better than just about anyone else in the world…even a Stan Lee with seriously depleted creative powers.

Maybe I give Pamela Anderson a bit of a pass because she had a cameo on Futurama…and, anyway, I was trying to point out that, on a variable scale where Paris Hilton’s acting ability is equivalent to say, a chunk of petrified dinosaur shit, Pamela Anderson’s is at least equivalent with that of a half-retarded, dying baboon, and therefore “higher.”

one would have to be a somewhat good actress in order to be married to kid rock. stan and paris though, wow. its horrid but perhaps he has seen the industries ups and downs and just wants to collect a check like all the others, still this is a sad sad thing.

Re: Jezmon and Who Wants to be a Superhero… I’d like to remind everyone who may have blanked it out of their minds (the way I failed to) that when last we heard from Stan Lee and WWtbaS, we saw, among other things, a “giant” “evil” Stan Lee smashing up a (cardboard) city…

Something about nuking the shark from orbit, as it’s the only way to be sure…

Just to be the devil’s advocate and not in any way to glorify Pamela Anderson, she was also in Barb Wire, the first comic book based movie to feature a woman in the lead role, and… I feel that counts for something. Even if the movie sucked.

However, I agree that the last thing Paris Hilton needs is a comic book. What’ll her superhero name be? Neighborhood Bike?
