Apologies for being absent some this week. What with the migraines and the vomiting and doctors visits, and serious attempts at studying for my MA exam I’ve been neglectful to you faithful readers.
So So Tor now have their very own corner of cyberspace, appropriately enough called Tor.com. It seems to me a very interesting idea. The community portion is, essentially, a hybrid of a standard message board where anyone can register and use it (I’ve already put in one comment, huzzah for me!), as well as a place for Tor authors to blog and post stories. It’s a very natural point of evolution for the sci-fi/fantasy community that has long had at its core an intimate relationship between writers and readers.
I wonder if Tor.com is now the de-facto arch-rival of io9. I find that even though I should read io9 with some passion, I just don’t. Not sure why. The writing is generally entertaining enough, as Gawker sites go, there just isn’t anything there to really inspire in me a amount of fanaticism. Tor.com, on the the other hand…
In case you’re not aware, you can now purchase the first season of Freakazoid on DVD. It probably has less of a cult following then, say, The Tick but I always thought it was the funnier of the two. What follows is not a clip of Freakazoid himself, but one of the other characters, Lord Bravery. I find it, even after 13 odd years, one of the funniest 6 minutes I’ve ever had the pleasure of watching:

Didn’t I mention the new tor.com like a month ago? Or did I hoard the knowledge that is Tor.com to myself?
And this tid bit “You signed up for their newsletter, then got a link to a new ebook each week via email.” IE Free books which were then printed at work.

Swear to god i just did the happy dance while reading this. i LOVE Freakazoid. I missed that show, i missed it good.
