Geek Olympics 2008

3

And you thought we forgot to update with a new comic? For shame! Although, to be fair, it wouldn’t be an expectation that we haven’t met before now would it. But this time, this time, we came through. So here is our bit in honor of the recent Summer Olympics… which was brought about by an idea of Kilian’s likely in direct response to some of the “athletes” that compete in some of the official Olympics events. Some of these should obviously be considered “skills” and not sports, and thusly, we have the “Geek Olympics.”

For further explanations, I will leave it up to him. As for me, I need to shower, and get ready for tonight’s party in honor of my most-unofrtunate aging… /sigh

I love you all,

–Aleister

Paypal update

7

Somehow, this seems to have slipped through the cracks a bit, but there has been an update to the current Paypal drive for yours truly, with one gracious Normalinaut donating a cool $100 USD to the great casue! And what did we do in honor of this most generous donation? Nothing… yet! But we will, now with renewed vigor as it has been brought to our attention in the first place.

And btw faithful, gracious and giving Normalinaut, we will need a picture of you and the proper name you wish to be identified with to complete our end of the bargain ^__^ feel free to send these to either myself or Kilian when you’re ready.

For all Normalinauts keeping track, this puts us almost exclusively to the halfway mark for our ultimate goal!

Just a bit further you mighty and faithful few, we’re almost home! Current balance $203.01

We love you all,

–Aleister

Checking in…

So, as APrilhead mentioned earlier in the week, there is to be serious birthday style bashings this Saturday at casa de gilgrims. I’d give you all the address but I haven’t been to their current place of domicilation so…

If anyone is interested, drop me an e-mail, kilian.heap at gmail.com. I hope to see as many (I’m thinking 5, since I know Kerri is in Minnesota) Normalinauts as possible.

So today began, what will no doubt prove to be a low point in the history of academia, my career as instructor of all things “research and writing related.” You know what’s awesome? Having a class of 20 freshman at 7:30 in the morning and seeing the looks of sheer panic as I called on random people (mostly by pointing and saying something like, “you!”) to answer questions.

It’s the simple things that make life worth living.

Ending, Beginnings, Middles?

So I was back on campus today. That is, I was back on the campus where I’m a student. It was odd because as I was walking around (in my official NR t-shirt announcing the sexiness of bacon) it occurred to me that in just three short days I will be instructing, for all intents and purposes, kids like those I was passing all day.

It was a very odd feeling.

In attempt to NOT go another week without some sort of update Gilgrim and I thought we’d share some images from the official Normality Restored photo album. As you can see, we’ve had a…checkered…past.

So, not much to report. Gilgrim’s cryptic twitters are as much a source of concern for me as they are you, faithful Normalinauts, since I haven’t heard from him directly since early today. Let’s all cross our collective fingers and hold our breath until something more develops. OK, don’t hold your breath…I don’t want you passing out or dying on our account.

Because, at this point, Watchmen is what I’m really living for…

OK, well I guess the wife, kid #1 and kid #2 (currently under development…80% boy!) are pretty good reasons to live.

But aside from that, what else have I got going? I mean, honestly, I could probably die happy after seeing Watchmen. At least, that’s what I thought yesterday after reading this article about how Dave Gibbons admits to being excited for the film (I mean, he and John Higgins even worked a bit on the pre-production for the film).

But like sands through the hour glass…

Now it seems that Fox is suing to halt production on the film altogether!

I miss Goliath still…

Greetings faithful Normalinauts,

Gilgrim here… and sadly I have to admit that we have been really, really, really bad about updating the site as of late. I see that Kilian has made a public apology, but honestly aside from his insane devotion to the on-all-accounts-inferior-Liverpool-football-club, he has little to apologize for. I am sad to say that the majority of the blame lies firmly on my own shoulders.

While I can (and actually will) shift my personal blame to that of my day job, it’s still been up to me to at least keep in better contact and make sure that I tell everyone what’s going on. Right now, I am once again separated from Goliath and have been for a painful amount of time. This painful separation doesn’t seem to have any immediate end in sight, which only makes the sitation even more painful. I’m trying my damndest to get this thing resolved and fast, however, there are a lot of flaming, shit-smeared hoops to jump through yet until proper resolution becomes a reality.

Not to be too cryptic, but my additions to our beloved digital home are monitored by certain overlords, so I will not give out details, but let us say that things have been put into motion. I’m not going to talk directly about my exact situation here, frankly it’s unprofessional and inappropriate, no matter how classless the “other side” may be. But, perhaps when things are settled, and the dust has cleared to reveal a world in proper working order, I will be able to wow you with the heebie-jeebie-inducing tales of intrigue, lies and assorted retaliations (and other related wholesome and infantile goings-ons). Let us hope that that day is not too far off.

In the meantime, I offer you this, my peace offering, which should hopefully help to illustrate exactly why I’m currently on pause as far as contributions go…

With a heavy, guilty (for neglecting all you wonderful Normalinauts)-heart,

–Aleister
