Third Post of the Day, with a Question!

Certainly, smarter (and in the case of John Stewart and Stephen Colbert, much funnier and more entertaining) people than me have pondered the degradation of journalistic standards in this country. I’m not going to wax philosophic about it.

But…

I came across this article and had a thought, and wanted to hear some other people’s reaction.

OK, it’s fairly short, so I’m just going to extract the whole thing.

Billy Lone Bear: Sonny Lone Candidate

Sonny Landham, the actor-turned-candidate who starred in the movie Billy Lone Bear, is now a lone candidate.

He and the Kentucky Libertarian Party have decided to “amicably go their separate ways” according to a press release issued by his campaign. He’ll instead run for U.S. Senate as an independent, the press release said.

The party says it kicked himi from its ticket.

Landham had come under fire in recent days for his anti-arab and anti-muslim comments. The Courier-Journal reported recently that Landham called arab people “camel-dung-shovelers” and advocated “bombing them into the sand” if OPEC didn’t lower oil prices.

Then last week, the Associated Press reported that he said the U.S. should have bombed Saudi Arabia and other Arab countries following the Sept. 11 attacks.

In his release, Landam’s campaign said, “The Libertarian Party of Kentucky, under constant pressure from the Libertarian National Committee and other Party members from outside the state, capitulated and agreed to remove their endorsement from Mr. Landham’s campaign.”

Landham had previously raised some eyebrows because, prior to breaking into mainstream movies in the 1980s, he was a porn actor, starring in the title role of the movie “Big Abner” and as Lane the Milkman in “The Trouble with Young Stuff.”

Shouldn’t that article have ended before that last sentence? I mean, the article is actually about the state Libertarian party pulling its endorsement of the guy, right? There was absolutely no need to mention the guy did porn. You know what I really like, though? Not only did the reporter have to bring up the porn, but he gave specific titles…in case anyone wanted to check them out, I guess.

Thoughts?

titles as well as the character played so we could specify this and gain some type of knowledge regarding porn. perhaps it was so that the people who watch those specific movies can impress there friends while watching by saying “did you know that lane the milkman is actually… he also acted in ‘big abner’.” beyond that i dont know why the certain titles would be listed. they may be big time titles in the adult film industry and the reporter was trying to boost up his column due to lack of smarts, i dont know.

Wow, I hope no one I know has that intimate of knowledge with the MEN in adult films…I mean, knowing the women is one thing, but aren’t the men really all just replaceable cogs?
