A Long Night Indeed
First off, thanks to everyone for all the nice words re: announcement.
Now then, I’m sitting on the couch watching the All Star game go into the bottom of the 13th inning.
I try not to bring up baseball much here. Besides Tengu I don’t think any faithful Normalinauts are baseball fans, but this particular game is turning out to be rather interesting.
This is already the longest, time wise, All Star game ever played. Both teams are running out of players to use and so, one has to wonder if this game will be called a tie. Back in 2002 the game was called in extra innings because it was still tied after 11 and both teams were out of pitchers. Normally, it wouldn’t be a big deal, really, because the All Star game is an exhibition game. But for the last few years the All Star game has determined who gets home field advantage in the World Series. So you can imagine Bud is unwilling to just call it a tie. Right now it’s 1 am in New York, where the game is being played.
Both teams have had runners in scoring position in the extra innings….and now Dan Uggla has just committed his third error in this game setting a single game record for one player. I think he’s on the AL take…
It’s hard to think they (Bud, that is) would let them play this whole thing out but if they don’t, how is home field advantage going to be decided?
It’s now in the top of the 14th…
Anyway, I might be here for a while…

And now the AL goes on to win yet another All-Star game, thus allowing them home field advantage for what feels like a lifetime of World Series games. Ugh. And yes, Uggla has to be on the AL bribe list. If only they had played him early and taken him out so he wouldn’t have hurt the NL team as much. I was impressed though with how Russel Martin was able to secure the home plate and toss out 4 runners going for home? The man would just not break!
