It’s 9 AM and I’m Drinking Beer

June 19th, 2008

Why, you ask dear normalinauts, am I about to finish my first Stella at just after 9 AM this thursday morn? Shouldn’t I be at work?

Yes, I should.

But something happened while I was in transit to said place of employ.

That something was, for lack of a better term, a “collision” between my 98 Honda Civic and a tractor trailer.

I’ll just say that, other then a slightly sore back, I am unharmed. And I can appreciate how lucky I am, considering the two vehicles involved.

It is particularly annoying, though, that this happened today. I had a terrible day yesterday, then this.

On the plus side, I can do homework all day, and the Dodger game starts in 10 minutes, and there’s a Euro Cup match on in a couple of hours.

You’re more than “Lucky,” since a tractor trailer is far more likely pop you, and the civic. I’m going to gander that the Civic doesn’t exist as a mode of transportation anymore.

I was able to drive it home, the rear driver’s tire was nearly exploded, so I drove about 30 mph the whole way on the donut.

The driver’s side door won’t open, and the driver’s side rear view mirror is hanging down, but I’ll be “driving” it over to a repair shop later today.

Wow, you’re really lucky the truck didn’t ride up, and over you.

Glad to hear you are ok. You just survived the “Lugnut Theory” in that he with the most lugnuts wins in a collision.

All living things contain a measure of madness that moves them in strange, sometimes inexplicable ways. This madness can be saving; it is part and parcel of the ability to adapt. Without it, no species would survive. — Yan Martel, Life of Pi
