I can’t find anything that corroborates this…

But I’m putting it up nevertheless…
This thread from a D&D forum says that Gary Gygax has died.
Thoughts?

“They ate her,” said Brother Number One. “With porridge. That’s what ‘ran away and was never seen again’ means in theses parts. It means ‘eaten.’”
— John Connolly, The Book of Lost Things
“Um, and what about ‘happily ever after’?” asked David, a little uncertainly. “What does that mean?”
“Eaten quickly,” said Brother Number One.

See, I don’t consider wikipedia any type of reliable information repository…sure it COULD be, but I don’t trust it…at least not at this juncture of human history…
But here’s the AP link referenced in the wiki…

See thats the problem with most people they want to use Wikipedia as a source when they should be using it as a card catalog.

I don’t want to use it as a source, that’s my point…I think it serves (or could, depending on your viewpoint) a very real and important purpose…but that purpose is not (and may never be) as a place to verify or obtain accurate and reliable information…you’re the one who used it as a source by putting that link up in response to my declaration that, at the time the post went up, I had not found any site to corroborate the story that Gary Gygax had died…

I was being lazy since there was a note at the top of the wiki article(which made it okay) but the bottom part had the “Notice of Death” link to a valid post. Which is where I find my valid links to actual information, and not a bunch of jumbled edits by fans, or haters of any given article.

I read it on Yahoo News.
Guess he finally rolled bad.

Oh. And as a tribute link…
The 1,025 Things Mr. Welch Can No Longer Do During an RPG.
If you’ve never read it, you’re in for a treat and if you have, peruse the sections that have been added since your last visit. Srsly. I need to game with this person.

So, how many LARP’s are going to be attending his funeral with actual diamond dust for a resurrection spell?

Now that’s a something I hadn’t considered…I shudder at the very thought…
But boy was the list awesome. I only browsed it (hey I am at work), but it certainly did seem applicable to at least one person who I have role played with in the past.

Only 1 person? I think there’s lots of things on that list that apply to all of us! “Plan B is not automatically twice as much gunpowder as Plan A.” Classic.

My personal favorite was the one about how the weapons shop wasn’t named Bloodbath and Beyond.
Lost in the comments was another good bit. Someone asked, I personally want to know HOW you made a Sith Lord cry.
The Glen’s reply: Use force powers to punch him repeatedly while chanting ‘I’m not touching you’. Do this while you are fighting on moving pylons where you can’t get close enough for lightsabers.
Another two favorites: 401. When a virgin sacrifice is demanded I will not look knowingly at the paladin, netrunner or Hermetic.
637. German characters do not gets +4 racial bonus to intimidate French characters.
Ah, so many greats.

My personal favorite: If my name isn’t Grimlock, can’t start every sentence with “Me Grimlock” Followed by “516. Not allowed to name my characters Grimlock.”

Hasn’t our gaming group done something like this one, “194. When the other guy picks swords for the choice of weapons, that does not leave me pistols.”
